Lesson formats
Three ways to take a lesson
Lesson length and format are the first things that set tuition. Your teacher will suggest the right one.
Private lessons
One student with one teacher, for 30, 45 or 60 minutes each week. Beginners usually start with 30.
30, 45 or 60 minutes
Any instrument
Shared lessons
Two students of a similar level with one teacher, for 45 or 60 minutes. Friends, siblings or a parent and child.
45 or 60 minutes
Two students
Group classes
The ukulele circle, the fiddle and banjo jam and the community choir. Classes of up to 8, except the choir.
On Wednesday and Saturday
Not made up when missed
How tuition works
We give you the figures in writing at the placement visit. Here is what sets them, and how everything else works.
Four things set tuition: the length of the lesson, whether it is private, shared or a group class, the teacher, and how many lessons a term holds. Our figures are on the enrollment page and in your placement visit, in writing.

Weekly lessons, a term at a time
Registration
A yearly registration covers your student file, the placement visit and scheduling your weekly time with a teacher. It is due when you accept the time we offer.
Billing
Tuition is billed monthly or a term at a time, through our enrollment page, by autopay or by invoice. A monthly plan covers the whole term, not only the months you attend.
Help with tuition
Ask us whether assistance is open this term when you book your placement visit, and we will tell you what we need and when decisions are made.
Siblings
A second student in the same family is handled differently, and so is a parent who learns beside a child. We explain how at the placement visit.
Withdrawing
We ask for a month's notice before your last lesson, in writing. Tell us early and we will explain what happens to a term in progress.
Missed classes and make-ups
A lesson you cancel with a day's notice is made up with your teacher in the same term, and so is a lesson the teacher cancels. Group classes and the choir are not made up.
Uniforms, costumes and other costs
Instrument rental by the term, music books your teacher chooses and the optional theory class are extra. Ask your teacher before you buy or rent: the right size and kind matters more than the shop.
Questions about tuition?
Ask at the placement visit or call the front desk. We will answer in plain words and in writing.
